India - People
These shots were ones I took of people during my month-long stay in Northern India during the fall of 2014.
Apitani Woman - We visited the remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh, in India's far north-east to see some of the tribal areas.  The Apitani woman, with their nose plugs and tatooed faces are definitely unique and unusual.  This practice has been discontinued for decades, so as these people who are now in their 50s and 60s pass away, this unique look will pass away with them.
Armritsar's Golden Temple, the holiest place of worship for the world's Sikhs is a wonderful place to people watch.  It was a warm and friendly place to visit and interact with the people there.  I liked the pastel tones that these two women were wearing and how nicely they fit in with the red brick walls on this part of the Golden Temple.
The Kamakhya Temple, in Guwahati, Assam was a wonderful place to watch people.  I go this shot of a Hindu priest outside of the main temple complex.
Tea and India go together quite well.  Even though tea is grown in many parts of the world, much of the production comes from the tea estates in north-eastern India.  This shot was taken at one of the smaller estates, the Donyi Polo Estate.  Here a womane is working her way through the shaded tea shrubs, picking off the new leaves.
This shot of a Sadhu, or Hindu Holy man was taken right beside the main part of the Kamakhya Temple, in Guwahati, Assam.
This is another shot taken at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam.  This woman was sitting outside on the stone steps that face the temple.  I just liked the way she and the clothes she was wearing blended in with the stones she was sitting on.
